The family of Báthory;
most wealthy but a dynasty that holds no private archives,
Something of a ‘secret nature’!
Alas! For there is indeed penned in her own hand;
The words of this apparent serpent tongue,
kept in the archives of other noble acquaintances.
Those words belonging to this once outspoken and gallant lady:-
And there are no indications of lunacy or a sadistic crimson hellion.
How quaint that it is but the opposite?
Her king failing to provide her with the gallantry of his military;
During a chronic invasion by the Ottoman Empire.
She protects her people and land by raising her own army!
He, who failed to provide the army, Fails to repay his debt to her:-
And so she sues the royal treasury.
Quite the nerve don’t you think?
This so called ‘Satan’ formed an alliance with other Protestants,
When the Catholic Church warned to take from her.
When all is said and done;
One see’s that she was indeed someone who would not submit,
nor be a mute to their threats.
Her ladyship would not play the victim or the game.
Neither would she become disarmed.
Like a true lady of today, she would not be unheard or silenced.
It was those men she mocked as distressed damsels,
who were the only ones threatened:-
Possibly by the fact, that a female could hold such power in society!
It is motive enough to write her out of the history books,
By burying her life behind lies and a brick wall.
Danse macabre du Báthory; An intoxicating tale of bloodlust.
I suppose those penned words of truth belonging to her, failed just a little bit:-
As truth never did meet the criteria to fascinate,
like the works of masterful Poe or his trusty translator Baudelaire.
Those who pay interest in her, for the bathing in blood and so forth;
Show only ignorance!
For in her own words,
The Countess’s true character to them is just a thought of nothingness.
Boring and insignificant,a failing dream!
Quite the opposite if I may say so myself.
