IMPORTANT WORDS FROM THE LISTENERS:
"Poetry performed like never before!" - ★★★★★
wow! not what I was expecting - I love spoken word and I love poetry but the extra little elements she has put into this is just mind blowing. Poems bought to life, for example with 'Of knives and whores', London 1888 I feel like I am there and Jack is after me! Amazing approach to both music and poetry performed like never before. What a chick! Give me more!
"Hilarious, Genius, Mysterious and Sorcerous!" - ★★★★★
"I had never heard of this artist before until I was reading about Poe on Wikipedia where she was mentioned. Incredible. When you learn to understand that there are three elements to the album Spoken word, Classical performance and bewitching heavy textures smothering a haunting veil of spooky sounds. It's genius it really is! The poetry is hilarious and intelligent. It's mysterious- you don't know whats coming next so many surprises. You just want to keep listening in order to learn more! I love it! Truly it does deserve the five stars. an absolutely bewitching sorceress which with the playful and almost theatrical readings of Jack the rippers notes make every hair elevate!"
"Most Artistic recording ever heard" - ★★★★
"I can't believe I am the first person to review this. I can't describe how much I love it. It's so different. It's an audio book, a classical album and a little rock 'n' roll all in one. It definitely is one of the most artistic recordings I have ever heard. I love the style. Can't wait for more."
"A wolf in sheep's clothing" - ★★★★★
" I really could not fault this. I warped back in time to the day's of Marie Antoinette, I ate cake, I made witness to murder and I pranced around as one would to the melodies of the baroque. I would love to say what was wrong with this track but I absolutely couldn't. There's comedy, Poetry, Classical meets alternative rock. The harpsichord and strings are so beautiful yet the macabre so dark and tainted. I'm in love and definitely a fan. If you love Mozart but like something with a bit of edge. This is for you. She appears innocent yet her voice. how it changes can easily meet the eeriness of metal bands such as arch enemy (similar vocals I mean not style). Fantastic and the spoken word - A perfect audio book piece. I laughed, I smiled and I was entertained. I am a fan and will be spreading the word of you my Lady!"
"Wow! Never Judge a book by it's cover" - ★★★★★
"When I first came across this album I was thinking Ok, it's going to be like Kate Bush or something along those lines. I sampled A tale of bedlam and bought it immediately. The Piano WOW! very Beethoven I can see why it's recommended for fans of classical. It's elegant but moody similar to Beethoven, Though obviously not Beethoven. Really does take you back to the classical eras. However the cover looks lovely with it's pastel covers, but do not be fooled. This exquisite album focuses on some very dark subjects, Edgar Allan Poe is dark on his own. She has a curious blend of creepy vocals blended with charming poetry readings. I was dazzled and I am in love. Another thing, The Harpsichord Lives! Toccata and fugue cover, A fine tribute to french poet Baudelaire, I highly rate this original and exceptionally artistic album and have added it to my music blog :) - Knock out!"
THE RAVENESS UNDERCOVER:
In early 2013, The Raveness decided to test the waters with her poetry by exposing random listeners to it - without revealing who had written the works and that what they were listening to was not traditional songs but in fact performance poetry. This was in order to obtain honest feedback from everyday lovers of music this is the feedback they returned:
"The female vocalist has a very unique tone and I enjoy the way she conveys her message in this song. I love hearing the Piano. The arrangement is one of a kind and very catchy."
“A soft, creepy whispering voice kicks off the song, which I really dig. Then a moody piano lick comes in. The female vocalist has a cool accent and interesting singing style, very intriguing. The lyrics are really quirky too, which I like. The piano is awesome! It rolls like crazy during the first little bridge part, and the percussion supports the tune nicely. A very satisfyingly creepy tune, I'd like to hear more from this artist.”
“The spoken word vocal is cute and curious .. the lyrics seems to dwell on historical figures such as Napoleon .. then it goes into classical romanticism instrumental music for awhile with more spoken work vocals .. it sounds very different, how it merges classical with modern electronics .. it has a far out sound .. after 2 and a half minutes there's an element of vocal melody which I enjoyed, but most of the song has a novelty feel that falls outside of conventional songwriting and that's a good thing! .. it 's actually the type of artist I would want to hear more of, although this particular track does not sound commercial enough to fit any marketing categories .. but that is why I like it, I wonder if there's an audience out there for this type of artistic, outside the box, presentation.”
“The song starts out very creepy! Reminds me of the girl from the Grudge. The song is very interesting, and dark. You don't hear stuff like this often. The vocal delivery is fantastic. I think it has great potential."
"Masterful performance and the words are so old in their ways, she sounds possessed in parts but you can tell it is intentionally creepy and that had an effect on me, Its so different and so much fun"
"Is this peformance poetry or cabaret? Whatever it is, it's totally wild and pant wettingly loaded with radness, spoken word rocks... now where do I buy it?"
